NATALIA HARVEY
VIOLIN

Australian violinist Natalia Harvey is a sought-after concertmaster, chamber musician, teacher and collaborator, her expertise ranging from contemporary music to historical performance. Her performances have been described as “incendiary” (Limelight) and “fresh, exciting and inventive” (Classic Melbourne).

A recipient of the Holdsworth Family Bach Prize and the Kate Buchdahl Memorial Award, Natalia is a laureate of solo competitions such as the Gisborne International Music Competition (NZ) and the Australian Youth Classical Music Competition. She was a 2017 Emerging Artist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, an Academist with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (Germany) and a solo artist in the 2022 International Musicians Seminar in Prussia Cove (UK). Natalia has been a featured soloist with the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and with festival orchestras around Australia. Her greatest musical passion, however, is chamber music, particularly string quartets, a passion which has seen her perform with some of the finest ensembles in the Southern Hemisphere, including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Flinders Quartet, the Australian Octet and the New Zealand String Quartet. She is also in demand as a Guest Director, having guest-directed chamber ensembles such as Ensemble Offspring, Omega Ensemble, the Melbourne Baroque Orchestra, the Melbourne Chamber Players, and internationally with the London-based Echea Quartet. Natalia was Principal Second Violin of the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra for seven years, and has had the pleasure of performing as Guest Concertmaster with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonia and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

In her free time, Natalia enjoys writing both fiction and non-fiction, with much of her current writing based on her studies in critical theory and philosophy. She also enjoys drawing, ocean swimming and generally being active outdoors.
